CHRISTCHURCH TECHNICAL COLLEGE NOTICEABLE PRESSURE ON ACCOMMODATION The need for more accommodation at the Christchurch Technical College is again being felt, according to a report presented last night to the Board of Governors of the college by the principal (Dr. D. E. Hansen). "The pressure on accommodation, which was relieved two years ago by the opening of the Papanui branch, is again being Celt in the main school, and we shall be glad when additional buildings can be erected," said Dr. Hansen. As an indication of the growth of the college, Dr. Hansen said that tne roll number on March 1 at the main school was 1137, and 276 at the Papanui branch. This was 167 more than the roll number at the same date last vear. Five more teachers were needed. Relieving teachers had been engaged, and applications had been invited for the permanent positions. _ The number of new pupils had increased, but more of -the Previous year's pupils had returned than usual The number of engineering pupils was again very large, and additional accommodation for workshop practice was being arranged at the mamichoaL The enrolments for agriculture were not as numerous as usual, but au other courses were well up to tne US Enro"mente S for evening classes were still being taken in large numbers.
