RABBIT BOARDS

AMALGAMATION WITH COUNTY COUNCILS OPPOSED U'KLdS ASSOCIATION J'Z LtGllAil.) HASTINGS, February 28. All but lour of the rabbit boards in the North Island are opposed to the proposals of the Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) for the amalgamation of rabbit boards with county councils. This was announced by Mr Bruce Kelly, secretary of the North Island Rabbit Boards’ Association, yesterday. The views of the rabbit boards were obtained in answer to a circular letter sent by the association to gather evidence to be given to the Parliamentary Committee considering the bill. Some boards favoured amalgamation with other neighbouring boards, but stated that machinery for this already existed in the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, and it was not necessary to include it in the proposed bill.
