POSTS AT AUCKLAND HOSPITAL

NUMEROUS APPLICATIONS

RECEIVED

NO announcement YET

TO BE MADE

(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.)

AUCKLAND, February 28. There were 110 applications for the position of secretary of the Auckland Hospital Board, and 14 for the posts of director of surgery and director of medicine at the Auckland Hospital. It was stated that a very large proportion of the applicants for the position of secretary were Australians, and because of that, and the desire to secure the best man available, several weeks would elapse before the name of the appointee could be announced. In all probability the names of the two directors will be made public this week.

The Rev. C. W. Wood, chairman of the board, returned from Wellington to-day after a consultation with the select advisory committee appointed to consider the appointment of the two medical men for the hospital committee. They spent several hours in going over the 14 applications, and ultimately they decided upon two men, both New Zealanders, with high academic qualilications and extensive experience. Mr Wood has come back to Auckland with the names of the two men recommended by the committee, and will submit them to the Hospital Board.
