LIVERPOOL STATE COAL MINE

LITTLE OR NO WORK DONE YESTERDAY Little or no work was done yesterday at the Liverpool State coal mine, but it is not anticipated that the mine will again be idle to-day. “We stopped giving out lamps at he lamp cabin at 8 o’clock this morning, the regular time,” said the mine manager (Mr C. J. Strongman), interviewed by “The Press” yesterday. "Some men were late and did not get lamps, therefore they were unable to proceed to work, and the rest of the men ceased work as a protest. We do not anticipate the mine will be idle to-morrow. Some of the surfacemen did work to-day.” About 200 men were affected by the stoppage. For the men, the president of the Miners’ Union (Mr George English) told “The Press” that he also did not anticipate that the men would not be working to-day. “The whole thing is due to a misunderstanding,” he added.
