BASKETBALL CLUB'S DANCE
A successful dance, organised by the j North Beach Old Girls' Basketball Club, was held in the North Beach hall on Saturday evening. The function was held in. aid of the North Brighton School funds, as an appreciation by the club of the committee's kindness in allowing the girls the use of the grounds for their matches. Members of the committee in charge of arrangements were Mrs A. E. Marriott, Misses Nancy Marriott, Mirian Parker, Mona Smith, Olive Sands, Nita Manson, and Phyllis Norrie. Alex. Campbell's Gaiety Orchestra supplied the music, and Mr R. Parker was master of ceremonies. Dance competitions were wpn by Mr J. Marriott and Miss Jean Small. Mr Lees and Miss Wilson. A competition for a special prize, given by Mr A. E. Marriott, was won by Mr J. Gibson. Those present included Mesdames A. E. Marriott, R. Parker, E. Howard, Hosking, C. Gibson, and A. Florance, jun., Misses Marion Eades, Betty Walls, M. McMullan, Edna Thompson, Edna Melhuish, Delsie Melhuish, R. Halligan, Gwen Egan, Joy Purchas, Edna Wilkie, Monica Beck, Jean Small, Jean Wilkinson, Joyce Holland, Joyce Wright, Joan Nelson (Wanganui), Norma McKenzie, D. Hocking, R. JVlanson, A. Turnbull, J. Kennedy, B. McDowell. E. Gray, Marion Parker, Peggy Moylan, Eva Downes, Gladys Stackhouse, Joyce Bate. E. Jewell, J. Jewell, Pat Cairns, Wyn East, Gwen Wood, Muriel East, Jean Evans, Gretta McKeown, and Joan Bate.
