AUSTRALIAN OPEN GOLF
Championship Won By G. Naismith THREE PLAYERS TIE FOR SECOND PLACE (OSITED PRESS ASSOCIATION— COPyRIOHT.I (Received September 12, 9.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, September 12. G. Naismith, the young Victorian professional, won the Australian open golf championship by one stroke from three other players. Naismith played very steadily throughout. Davies finished boforc Naismith, but McKay and Walker, playing together, were the last pair in. They both needed birdie threes at the hint hole to tie with Naismith. McKay's putt was two ieet short, but Walker's 15-foot putt stopped on the lip of the hole. Von Nida, who was level with Naismith at the end of the third round, started his final round in great style. He was out in par figures, but on the homeward journev he putted badly. Ferrier's last two rounds were full of wild shots. Rufuy Stewart, who was leading after 36 holes, tired badly to-day. He finished with a total of 309. A surprising feature of the championship was that from 165 players only one, Davies, returned a score below par. Scores: —
