STANDARD RATES OF WAGES
SECRETARY OF TIMBER UNION NOT SATISFIED (PIIES9 ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) GREYMOUTH, September 11. Discussing the Arbitration Court's m-onouncement on standard wages, Mr F L Turley, secretary of the New Zealand Timber Workers' Union, said that he disagreed with the Court s decision- t ~ ,-n,i He considered that the unskilled labourer should receive at least 2s 4Jd an hour, equal to 19s daily, and the skilled worker 25s dally. Mr Turley added if those union secretaries almost congratulating the Court on its pronouncement had submitted the provisions to the rank and file, he thought that they would all have been condemned by the members.
