TAR SEALING OF ROADS
.— IMPORTANT PROGRAMME AT WAIMATE An important programme of tar-seal-ing will be begun in the Waimate County in the next few days. Tenders have been accepted, and work will start as soon as the weather is settled. The last unsealed stretch, in the county, of the Main South road—the four and a half miles from McNamara’s corner to Deep Creek —will be paved first, by British Pavements. Ltd., who sealed the stretch from McNamara’s corner to Glenavy nearly two years ago, and whose tender has again been accepted by the Public Works Department. The Waimate Gorge road, to Waihao Forks, will also probably be sealed this month, by Fulton and Hogan (Dunedin), whose tender was accepted at the last meeting of the Waimate County Council. It is expected that these two main items will be completed within a month, given favourable weather. The foundation of the Gorge road has consolidated as well as was hoped, during the winter, and the completed road is expected to be a highly successful job.
