AGREEMENT REACHED IN DISPUTE Agreement has been reached in Conciliation Council on all points in the Canterbury cordial, aerated water, and pickles manufacturers' employees' dispute, except that relating, to underrate workers, which has been referred to the Arbitration Court. Hours of work for employees other than drivers shall not be more than 44 a week during the summer months and 40: hours a week during the winter, the week to consist of five days and a half. The minimum wages for male employees in the first six months shall be 15s a week, and in each succeeding six months until the seventh period there shall be an increase of 4s a week. In the seventh period of six months the minimum wages shall be £2 a week, with increases of 10s a week during the eighth and ninth period. In the tenth period, of six months of service £3 15s shall be paid, and thereafter the minimum wages shall be £4 5s 6d a week. The minimum weekly wages for syrup, pickle, and sauce makers shall be £4 15s 6d, for syphon fitters £4 10s 6d, and for bottlers, corkers, packers, and case-makers £4 9s 6d. The

minimum weekly wages of female employees in the first six months shall be 15s, rising by 4s a week after each six months until the seventh period, when the wages shall be £2. Thereafter the minimum weekly wages shall be £2 ss.
