SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS' CONFERENCE
The Rev. A. Simmonds presided at a conference of Presbyterian Sunday school teachers held in St Andrew’s school hall. Sixty delegates were present. After a devotional period the Rev. J. Robertson gave an address on “The Tasks of Sunday School Teachers and the Aim of Sunday School Teaching.” The president then introduced the Rev. L. Farquhar Gunn, who chose as the subject of his address, .‘What Should We Teach?” He gave many helpful suggestions for teaching. This was followed by a discussion on the purpose and function of the Sunday School Teachers’ Union. , On the motion of Mr Marshall, Votes of thanks were passed to the speakers. The conference adjourned for tea, which was provided by the union and served by the Sunday school teachers of St. Andrew’s school. At the evening session Miss Iris Wilson, Youth Work secretary of the Dominion Council, explained the work of the Youth Council, which could be used as a general information bureau- by Sunday school teachers. Mr Manson, travelling secretary of the Young Men’s Bible Classes,- spoke on “Modern Sunday Schools at Work in New Zealand,” and illustrated his talk with lantern slides. Votes of thanks were passed to Mr Manson. the St. Andrew’s Church Board of Management, to Miss Wilson, and to the honorary secretary, Mr W. A, Moir. and the teachers of St. Andrew’s Sunday school.
