PRESENTATION FROM BURWOOD parishioners The esteem’ and regret in which the Rev. C. A. Tobin, retiring vicar of All Saints’ Church, Burwood, was held were demonstrated by the large number of parishioners and residents who attended a social given him in tne Parish 5 Hall last evening. . Mr J. Liggins, for the parishioners, presented Mr Ti'obiiv with ' an chair, an encyclopaedia, and a wallet of notes, as a mark of appreciation of his long term of service as vicar of th Mrs h N. C Garland, Mr Tobin’s daughter, was also presented by the parishioners with a gold wristlet watch and work basket, as an expression of the esteem in which she is held by the parishioners,* and for her keen interest in the various activities of the Ch Mr Cl J. Liggins presided. Dean Julius, representing Bishop westWatson, and Mrs Julius, and the Venerable Archdeacon A, C. Purchas and Mrs Purchas (Rangiora) were among ‘"Sr £ r gg7ns'' in asking Mr Tobin W SSS* Mr Tobn. had been vicar at All Saints Church for 27 years, and before . that he had been at Amberley for 18 years. The speaker wished him every happiness Julius referred to his associations with Mr Tobin in another district. Though Mr Tobin was retiring from active work he was confident he would still continue to take some part in the work of the church. . He wished him many years of happiness in his retired life. . Archdeacon Purchas (Rangiora) also referred to the good work of Mr T °Mr l ’H. Rowse, for the Burwood Memorial Committee and Burwood School Committee, endorsed the remarks of the other speakers. / Mr Tobin, in acknowledging the gifts, said that though he was now more than 80 years of age, he felt much younger. Mr Liggins also spoke of the work done by Mrs Garland in the Sunday SC Mrs Garland suitably replied, and also thanked Mr Liggins for his remarks about her mother, the late Mrs Tobin. 1
