Electric eels capable of loosing charges of 500 volts against unwary attackers have been discovered in the jungle rivers of Brazil, especially along the upper reaches of the Amazon, according to three American scientists, Dr. Richard Cox and Mrs Cox, of New York, and Robert Matthews, who are connected with the American Museum of Natural History. “The average mature eel discovered was capable of discharging 300 volts,” said Dr. Cox, leader of the expedition. “But we found monsters capable of 500 volts."
