WOMEN’S EMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE
At the monthly meeting of the Women’s Employment Committee, Mrs C. W. Barrell presided over a good attendance of members. Reports from the centres stated that for the period ending May 29. 2854 meals had been supplied to women and girls and 169 garments had been made for the centre, the Nurse Maude Association, the Friends of St. Helens, and the Mayoress. Employment had been given to 29 persons in the centres, three women had been placed in subsidised positions and 26 positions had been filled. It was decided to close the office and centres on His Majesty’s birthday # as altered by Government proclamation. Mrs Souter was appointed to represent the committee of the Household Service campaign.
