FINAL DAY OF APPEAL COLLECTION LISTS FROM CITY FIRMS A few of the collection lists issued to firms in the city for contributions by their employees were received yesterday by the City Treasurer (Mr J. W. Niven) to augment the donations to the King George V National Memorial Fund. About 1600 of these lists have been issued in the city by the committee organising the appeal, anu it is the intention of the committee to make arrangements lor the collection of all the lists that have not been sent to the City Treasurer within a few days of the close of the P The official date for the closing of the appeal is to-day, the last public fixture being the community singing to be held in the Civic Theatre from noon to 2 p.m. to-day. In addition to gifts from individuals for auction at the community singing, the secretary of tlxe committee (Mr St. J. J. Dunne) yesterday received goods from the Canterbury (N.Z.) Seed Company, L,td.. and the New Zealand Refngeiating Company, Ltd. Mr Dunne stated yesterday that about £SO had been collected for the fund by a committee working in New Brighton, and it was estimated that another £25 would come from this source. National Memorial Fund. This was reported at a meeting yesterday of the committee organising this branch of the appeal, at which Mr C. S. Thompson presided. Reports were received from the chairmen of the various sub-committees set up to develop the campaign in the schools and colleges, and these indicated that many primary schools had not yet responded. It was anticipated, -however, that donations from these would be received very soon. It was also stated that many school committees did not receive notice Of the appeal until after their last meetings, and it was assumed that attention would be given to the matter when these committees again met. DONATION FROM SHIRLEY SCHOOL A gift of £5 to the King George V Memorial Fund was approved at the monthly meeting of the Shirley Primary School Committee recently. ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY GIVES £5/5/The sum of five guineas was voted last evening to the King George V National Memorial Fund, by the council of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society.
