Mrs J. H. Mullins (Wales), who was the guest of Mrs J. A. Mullins (Hadlow), is now staying with Mrs Arthur . Turnbull (Christchurch). Mrs E. J. le Cren and Miss Ethel le ,Cren spent the week-end in Timaru. IX *jV Dr - and Mrs w - E - Gibson (Elizastreet) are visiting their daughter, Mrs Douglas Barker (Kaikoura). Mrs W. I. Tait and her children (Beverley road) have returned from Christchurch. Mr and Mrs W. M. Satterthwaite (Christchurch) are staying with Mrs T. W. Satterthwaite (Elizabeth, street). Miss Elworthy and Miss Nancy Bond ("Pareora Cottage," le Cren's terrace) are making a motor tour of the North Island. Miss A. H. McSkimming, senior toll operator at Timaru, who is shortly to be married, was the recipient of a silver entree dish on behalf of the staff. The presentation was made by the Chief Postmaster (Mr H. Miller), who extended to Miss McSkimming the best wishes of the staff for her future happiness. Other speakers were Mr R, H. Wheeler, senior telegraph supervisor, and Miss Hyams, supervisor of the telephone exchange.

Miss Joan. Davis was the guest of honour at a "pantry" gift party held at the home of Mr and Mrs Acton Thompson, Kirwee. The time was spent in games, competitions, and dancing. The Rev. T. Misses J. Cusack and E. Fry were hostesses at a "variety" gift party given in the New Brighton Municipal Band Hall, in honour of the approaching marriage of Miss Elsie Carter. The time was spent in dancing and games.

Music was played by Miss D. Hull, -with extras by Mrs D. Foster. Mr C. McKentie was master of ceremonies. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr J.. Cusack and Miss D. Brown.

There was a large attendance at the Aylesbury when a "variety" gift party was given to honour Miss Joan Davis, whose marriage will take place next week. .On behalf of those present the Rev. W. H..S. Hine wished Miss Davis every happiness in the future, and presented her with a number of useful gifts for her' future home.

During the evening competitions ■were won by Miss J. Davis and Mr F. Mugford, Mrs R. Henderson and Mr R. Miigford, and Miss L. Thompson and Mr C. Wilson. Music for dancing was played by Mesdames F. Johnson, G. Begg, and Miss Lucy Thompson. Mr H. W. Walker was master of ceremonies.

A "variety" gift party was given by Mrs. E. Millar at her home in Hills *• road in honour of Miss J. Collier. The guest of honour received many useful gifts for her future home.
