Dr. P. Stanley Foster will return to-morrow morning from a visit to the North Island. Mr F. H. Christian has joined the staff of Evans and Bull. Mr C. O. Shei-wood, who was for many years an executive officer of the Dunlop Company of Australasia, left Sydney on Saturday by the Maunganui on a visit to his brother, Mr A. G. Sherwood, of Christchurch. Mr B. B. Wood left for the north by the steamer express on Saturday evening. Father Brosnahan was among the passengers from the north on Saturday morning. Mr E. J. Howard, M.P., Chairman of Committees of the House of Representatives, arrived from Wellington on Saturday by the Rangatira. Messrs A. W. Beals, J. R. Bishop, N. E. Tingey, R. B. Tingey, and Captain R. A. Anderson arrived on Saturday from Wellington. Professor A. H. Tocker returned from Wellington on Saturday. Mr G. H. Ince, chief insurance officer of the British Ministry of Labour, arrived in Christchurch on Saturday. Mr Ince, who "was in Australia at the request of the Government was invited by the New Zealand Government to visit the Dominion to report on the British system of unemployment insurance. Mr C. R. Hcrvey, of the General Motors Acceptance Corporation, Wellington, arrived in Christchurch on Saturday on annual leave. Dr. J. P. McQuilkin, a member of the New Zealand bridge team which visited Australia, has returned to Christchurch after taking part in matches at Melbourne and Sydney. The Director of Broadcasting (Professor James Shelley) arrived in Christchurch from Wellington on Saturday morning. He was engaged on business in the city over the weekend, and he will go to Dunedin this week on business connected with the broadcasting station, there. He expects to return to Christchurch about the end of the week, and to go on to Wellington next Monday. Mr George Dewe, a well-known member of the Sydenham Cricket Club of about 30 years ago, who has been living in Edmonton, Canada, for the last 24 years, will arrive in Auckland early in March this year on his first visit to New Zealand since he left for Canada. Mr Dewe has done much in aiding the progress of cricket in Western Canada during his stay there.
