As a sequel to a shopping night sassation in the main street, Timothy Augustus Teahan, a farmer, of Tiratu, was sentenced to three weeks' imprisonment with hard labour for being drunk while in charge of a car. His license was cancelled, and he was prohibited from driving for two years. When attempting to leave a parking stand near the Masonic HoteL bis car mounted one footpath, swung off on to another, and crashed into the island window of the D.S.C. building, wrecking it. The car then proceeded along the path until it collided with a telegraph pole. Nobody was hurt, but ont or two persons had narrow escapes.
