WORK FOR FIFTY-SIX MEN
POSITIONS FOUND THIS WEEK
Having placed 56 men in positions in the last week, the local placement office has now found work for 1528 men: Twenty-five of the positions found this week were permanent, and of these 25, 10. were on farms. Three of the casual positions were also on farms.

A number of men from outside districts, including some from the North Island, are seeking harvesting work and are going into the country to take any jobs offering. C/atpcnteTS (some Vw vdge work! and plasterers are wanted for the West Coast, and there is also a very strong demand locally for first-class carpenters. The placement office considers that very few fully qualified carpenters are out of work.
