SPURIOUS COINS PAID AT TURNSTILES
THIRD TEST TAKINGS STILL BEING COUNTED. MELBOURNE, January 14. Although the third test match between England and Australia ended a week ago, the gate takings are still being counted by a staff of 24. The amount received will be reduced by about £3O, representing spurious coins which were accepted in the tremendous rush at the turnstiles. Coins from France, America, India, and South Africa were accepted, as were counterfeit florins, shillings and sixpences.
