Perry says: "Since the advent of professional-: ism we have been faced by the burning question of open tennis. There is no question that the officials running the amateur game to-day are much more disposed toward the open tournament; but I honestly think we will not see it for at least another 15 years, when the game will be in the hands of those playing it to-day. "The open tournament would be a great help to amateurs, who would have a chance to benefit from the experience of professionals who have played for many years in varying conditions throughout the world. The best thing amateurs and professionals can do to speed the advent of the open tournament is to cease running each other down."—North American Newspaper Alliance Copyright.
