THE POPE'S HEALTH
FEAR THAT IMPROVEMENT WILL NOT CONTINUE (Received January 15, 1.55 a.m.) ROME, January 14. The Pope had a fairly good night. His condition is unchanged, but those in close touch do not conceal their fears that the improvement will not continue. They say that the sleep he has obtained recently was largely because of sedatives. An earlier message said:— The Pope is much better. He left his bed to-day for the first time in six weeks.
