ACTION FOR SLANDER
MR ERNEST SIMPSON TO SUE OFFICER'S WIFE LONDON, January 13. Mr Ernest Simpson has issued a writ for slander against the wife of an Army officer. Mr Simpson's writ was issued against Mrs Joan Sutherland, the wife of Colonel Arthur Sutherland, M.C. The action is based on words alleged to have been uttered about divorce proceedings instituted by Mrs Simpson. Mr Simpson has been living lately at the Guards' Club, in Brook street. Colonel Sutherland, who is a director of several tea companies, is at present on his way to India. Mrs Sutherland is said to have left for Scotland to-night from London.
