* ARRANGEMENTS FOR FLOWER SHOW The Presbyterian flower show committee decided at a recent meeting to hold the annual autumn show early in March. It was agreed that the schedule should include a separate section for the cultivation of trees by children. Dr. P. R. Woodhouse offered a prize for children under 16 years exhibiting the best collection of named specimens of forestry suitable for growing on a farm (the exhibits to be a cone with a six-inch sprig). A special prize for the production of timber was also included. The following persons are to be asked if they will judge at the show:— Cut flowers. Mr Moody (Timaru), Mr G. E. Knowles (Timaru): decorative. Mrs A. S. Elworthy (Holme Station): children"s section. Mrs J. Mcllwrick (Timaru): forestry. Dr. P. R. Woodhouse (Bluecliffs): fancy work, Mr A. S. Jones (Timaru): baking. Mrs R. B. Hart (Timaru); sweets and domestic produce. Mrs C. Coventry (Waimate): fruit and vegetables. Mr A. S. Jones. The secretaries were asked to write j to the Rev. Llewellyn Williams asking if he will open the show and the Rev. J. Hay asking him to present the trophies in the evening. The committee decided to approach Mrs Woodhouse again asking if she would assist with a floral display. Foresters' Lodge I Bro. G. Annett. C.R., presided over a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of Court Progress. Foresters' Lodge. No. 6732. held in the Public Hall library. The woodwards reported that two members had declared off and one on the sick funds. General accounts amounting to £59 5s lOd, and sick payments £3 6s Bd, were passed for payment. One candidate was initiated into the order and two further nominations were accepted. Bro. T. Baker, P.D.C.R.. was elected to represent the court on the United Friendly Societies' council. Bro. H. Cloake was presented with the past chief ranger's neck ribbon and certificate.
gunnery was continued under Ser-, geant Findlay and Quartermaster-Ser-geant J. Halkett. It was arranged to hold a half-day parade on Saturday afternoon, when target shooting will be held on the beach near the town- | ship. | Personal Miss Patricia Rosevear (Timaru) is ; the guest of Mrs C.
