SOUTHLAND ROADS FLOODED
* RIVERS OVERFLOW AFTER 24 HOURS’ RAIN (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) INVERCARGILL, December 22. Flooding occurred on several Southland roads to-day through rivers overflowing their banks after more than 24 hours’ continuous ram. The weather cleared early this morning, and although to-day was dull and cold no further rain fell. The most serious flooding was on the Main North road at McNab, where the road was impaslable. and motorists going to Dunedin had to make a detour. The roads were also blocked at Waikaia and at Iron Bridge, on the main InvercargillRiverton highway. All rivers and streams are very high.
