ST. ALBANS BATH
▼ (TIT COUNCIL PROMISES (,'RANT A grant of up to £2OO is to be made next year by the City Council to liquidate the liabilities of the board of control of the St. Albans swimming bath. This decision was made at a meeting of the council last night on the recommendation of the finance committee. Recently the council was asked by the board if it would take over the control of the bath and meet the deficit of about £2OO.
Reporting to the council, the committee said that the board had agreed to continue to function unchanged and to try to make the bath a financial success if the council would wipe off the overdraft. There was a further condition, that if a particularly unfavourable season was experienced, the council would be prepared to give further assistance to the board on this account. On the committee's recommendation, the council decided to place a sum of up to £2OO on next year's estimates.
