ASHBURTON SHOPS ENTERED
SUM OF MONEY TAKEN
Two business premises at Ashburton were entered on Tuesday evening, and an attempt was made to break into another shop. A padlocked door at the rear of Mir S. Freddy’s motor-cycle works in Tancred street was forced and £1 14s lid was taken from the till. It is not known yet if any stock was stolen. A number of finger-prints were taken by the police. A similar means of entry was employed at the shop of Mr T. Pethick, painter and paperhanger. East street. Because of Mr Pethick’s absence in the country yesterday it is not known if anything was stolen. The lock of the back door of Messrs Smith Bros, shop, next’ door to Mr Pethick’s, however, resisted the attempt to enter.
