HALF-YEARLY INSPECTION OF MOTOR-CARS
EXCEPTION TO CLAUSE IN DRAFT REGULATIONS

AUCKLAND, October 7.
“This is an impost on motorists to which exception should be taken” said the Mayor of One Tree Hill (Mr I. J. Goldstine), when referring to the clause in the proposed motor regulations which provides for six-monthly inspections at a charge of 5s a meeting of the borough council. The draft regulations were submitted to the council for recommendations. "This is equivalent to an increase in taxation of £IOO,OOO a year,” Mr Goldstine said. "It will cost each motorist 10s a year to obtain two certificates of mechanical fitness. A vehicle may be t—**** and then the brakes may go wrong the next week.
