SUPREME COURT SENTENCES AT GISBORNE IPRaSS 18KOCIAT10X TKLEOBAM.) GISBORNE, August 12. Leniency was extended to lour prisoners who appeared for sentence before Mr Justice Blair in the Supreme Court this morning. Tahati Poki. found guilty of assault on a girl, was sentenced to one month s gaol, his Honour remarking that a previous term of probation had been ineffective. For attempted carnal knowledge, Sam Waikare was sentenced to 12 months’ probation. For breaking and entering and theft. Plnihi Te Puni was admitted to probation for three years. For bigamy, Leslie Henry Hanger was admitted to probation for 12 months. Hanger had not heard from his wife for 10 years, and had not received replies to his letters. His Honour said that there were unusual circumstances and probation was justified.
