REPLIES TO ADVERTISEMENTS

TO THE EDITOB OT THB PKEgS. Sir,—Allow me a little space to voice my protest against the advertisers who fail to reply to answers when a stamped addressed envelope is enclosed. On every occasion that I have answered an advertisement for employment I have enclosed an envelope and stamp for a reply, and only twice in 18 applications have I received an answer. Perhaps it is too much to ask the advertiser to write, "Thanks—position filled," and drop it in a letter box. Naturally, I quite agree that a reply cannot be expected when a stamp and envelope are not enclosed, but surely there is no excuse when this is done. —Yours, etc., GARDENER. Maxch io, 1936.
