Sailing / Three sailing races were held by the Canterbury Yacht and Motor-Boat Club on Saturday afternoon in a light north-east wind and an almost smooth sea. The principal events were a keel yacht race tor X class skippers for the Gough trophy, and a Z class race for the Moller Cup. Results:— Gough Trdphy Race, started 3 p.fn—Waterbeetle (E. Sinclair), 20min, 4.27.37 p.m., 1; Yvonne (T. Hobbs), 21min, 4.32.58 p.m.. 2; Harere (K. Sillars), 22min, 4.33,58 p.m., 3. The others starters were—Pastime (H. Norris) scr; < Marangi (R, Hendry) 4min, and lolknthe (R. Priddy) Iflmin. Moller Cup Race, started 3.12 p.m.— Echo (C. Masson), 3min, 4.22,8 p.m., X; Waterwitch (J. Dowell), scr, 4.26.53 p.m., 2; Falcon (F, Sutton), scr, 4.27.20 p.m., 3. Also started—Sandy (L. Beaumont) IJmin. I Class Race, started 3.20 p.m.— Ngahau (W. Stevens), 24min, 4.20.22 p.m., 1; Lolita (J, Evans), scr, 4.31,15 p.m., 2; Aloha (T. Alexander), 2imln, 4.32.0 p.m., 3. Also started —Rosita (M. Vincent) Imin. Picnic Postponed Heavy rain yesterday caused the postponement for the t:cond time of the annual picnic of the Lyttelton Lodge of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes/ which was to have been held at Southbridge.
