. p —. OVERTIME DISPUTE ON WATERFRONT A dispute regarding the working of the costal motor-vessel Holmglen at Lyttelton on Saturday resulted in the vessel sailing without completing her' loading. On Friday afternoon when the waterside workers employed on the vessel were' told that overtime would not be worked that night they intimated that if nq}Ove r thTje they would -h<sf VesumST the-fSHowing morning. On Saturday morning the men declined to start unless they were paid for two hours at overtime rates in lieu of not having worked on Friday night. The employers refused this demand and the men did not start. During* the morning the men informed the shipping company that they would resume work at 1 o’clock. This would have meant that they would have been paid overtime rates for the afternoon. The employers declined this offer and the Holmglen sailed for Wellington without taking the remainder ol tier cargo.
