INTERPROVINCUL cricket AND TENNIS
* The sports programme for to-day includes some of the most important fixtures of the summer, season. The Plunfcet Shield cricket match between Canterbury and Otago will be continued, Nunneley Casket and Wildmv Shield tennis matches will be played at Wilding Park, the Canterbury amateur cycling championships will be held in the evening at English Park, and the head-of-the-river rowing, events will be continued on the Avon. The Plunket Shield cricket will begin at 11 a.mf The luncheon adjournment wiU be taken from Ip.m. to 1.45 At Wilding Park Canterbury tennis teams will continue their matches against Wellington in defence of the Anthony, Wilding Memorial Shield and Kathleen Nunneley Casket Play will begin at 1.30 p.m. The head-of-the-river rowing events, postponed from last Saturday because of rain, will be held on the Avon today,, starting at 8.80 p.m. The Pioneer Motor Club will hold motor-cycle races on the beach at New Brighton, starting at ,2.30 p.m. The first event will be started by the Mayor Of New Brighton (Mr E. L. Smith) oh the south side of the pier. The fastest machines in Christchurch will be on the beach and the entry list includes Some of the best known riders. In the evening the Canterbury amateur cycling championship will be held at English Park and should provide Spectators with some thrilling racing. The programme will include both athletic and cycling events, and all the leading riders will compete. The first race will start at 7.45 O’clock.
