WAIUAU SEAT Mr J. Anderson Reilly. of Seddon, a candidate for the Wairau seat at the General Election, addressed a meeting at the Masonic Hall on Saturday night, and was listened to with interest by a moderate attendance, Mr E W. Flower presided, Mr Reilly said his remark.-; were merely to give electors food for thought and he would enter more fully into the political questions of the day later in the campaign. He dealt wHh the economic question, unemployment, South Island Main Trunk Railway (which he considered should be completed by using unemployed men), the dairy industry, and marketing of produce. Asked if he was to be the Labour candidate, Mr Reilly said "No." If the Government went to the electors as a Coalition party tlien he would be an Independent. He was not allied to o.iy party at present. Mr Reilly was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his address. Bowls The bowling green was well patronised on Saturday afternoon, the following games being plaved:— J Barratt, A. Trudgian, and J. Washington 22, S. Corney, A. W. Ball, and A. Howard 9. A. W. Barker. A. E. Harris. S. T. Harris, and J. C. Smith 13, Hansen, W. D. Sahiston, J. Lovett, and T. Knight 29. W. Bowen. G. G. Newton, F. Clark, II Wilson 11, H. Mjller, A. Stewart, J. Davidson, K Hayward 34. A leam of 12 from Blenheim will pay u visit to Kaikoura on November 24. Cricket A match was played on Saturday between teams chosen by Messrs J. A. Reid and F. S. H. Warner. Mr Reid's team won by 177 to 150 runs. For Reid's team, L. Sabiston made 55, Eagan 59, McLcnnan 20, and O. O'Callaghan 17. For Warner's team Borlhwick made 56, Hobbs 24, Gillett 18, Warner 17, and Lester 15.
