PREVENTION OF CRUELTY
♦ MEETING OF CANTERBURY SOCIETY The committee of the Canterbury Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals met last evening, Mr H. D. Acland. president, being in the chair. The animals' home report stated that animals had been dealt with since the last meeting as follows:—Dogs admitted for treatment, 1; stray dogs, 5; cats admitted for treatment, 2; stray cats, 4; animals destroyed at home, 4 dogs and 6 cats; other animals destroyed, 3 dogs, 20 cats; animals left in home, 2. Moneys received totalled £2 12s 6d, and the expenditure had been £1 lis, leaving a credit balance of £1 Is 6d. | Mrs A. L. Millington, organiser for the junior league, reported that new members had been enrolled from Leeston, Culverden, Dunsandel, Dunedin, Oamaru, and Timaru. An intermediate branch had been started, with a membership subscription of 2s 6d a year. , Mrs S. P. Dalton resigned from the committee because she was leaving for England, and a motion expressing appreciation of her work was passed. The general financial statement showed expenditure to be £65 13s 6d, paving a debit balance at the bank lag MX Ok 3d. , ;
