TO BEAUTIFY NEW BRIGHTON

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION A meeting of the newly-formed New Brighton Home Garden and Beautifying Association was held in the Oapls room, Mr J. S. AinswGrlh being elected to the chair, and Mr B. H, Dean was appointed secretary for the meeting. The sub-commitlec (Messrs F. J, Bromley, E. W. Chadwick, W. Carpenter, and B. H. Dean) appointed to prepare rules to govern the association presented a complete set and recommended that a canvass of the borough with a view to securing members be undertaken, and that lectures on different horticultural subjects be arranged for each monthly meeting. The report was received and tho sub-committee thanked. The rules were amended and handed to the solicitor for perusal. The subscription was fixfed at 2s 6d per annum, and the monthly meetings for the fourth Wednesday in each, month. The following officers were elected— Patron, the Mayor of New Brighton; president, Mr I. R. Lamb; vice-presi-dents, Messrs J. S. Ainsworth, L. W. Hudson, and A. W. Owles; hon. secretary, Mr B. Dean; hon. treasurer, Mr P. W. Moore; hon. solicitor, Mr C. V. Lester; trustees, the Mayor of New Brighton and the president of the association; committee, the president, vice-presidents, secretary, and treasurer (ex officio), and Mesdames H. 0. Brooks, J. Bellamy, and Messrs P. J. Bromley. W. Carpenter, and E. W. Chadwick. The next meeting to be held will be addressed by Professor Shelley.
