RURAL POWER CHARGES
CONFERENCE OF COUNTRY INTERESTS Representatives of the Farmers' Union, the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, and the Sheep Owners' Union conferred yesterday with representatives of power boards in North Canterbury with a view to securing a reduction in power charges in rural areas. Mr J. D. Hall presided. Proceedings were in committee, but it was announced later that the conference had decided to approach the Government urging that the question ol whether rural power charges shoul'l be reduced be considered by the Local Government Commission when it is appointed, and also urging that no time be lost in appointing this commission.
