♦—— CHEVIOT DEFENCE CLUB Thero was an attendance of 15 members at tlio Cheviot Hills range on Saturday afternoon to compete for the first round of the Douglas Shield competition. The weather i.-as overcast but the light was good, and there was almost an entire absence of wind. This round was filed from the 500 yards range, and .7. Pilcher (scr) secured top score with 44 points. J. TJpritchard (2) and J. Walton (4; were itecond equal with 41 points, and J. N. Cottrell (scr) and A. V. Harvey (2) were third with 39 points. Dierck's trophy (handicap) will bo fired from the 200 yards and 300 yards ranges.
