* AVONDALE CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Avondale Golf Club was held in the clubhouse at Wainoni road last night, and there was a good attendance of members. Mr Harold Lighlband, the club capLain, congratulated members on the outstanding improvements effected in the links during the last season, and he said that thanks for this was due to the grounds committee—and the weather. Every part of the links he thought showed the greatest improvement. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr James Carter; vicepresidents, Messrs R. A. Campbell and N. V. Smith; captain, Mr Harold Lightband (all re-elected unopposed); committee, Messrs J. Martin and A. Mc-Donald-Smith (ladies' representatives), T. S. Knight, C. W. Oborn, A. C. Penfold, and E. O. Schnack.

IMPROVEMENTS AT RICHMOND HILL GREENS WATERED AND ENLARGED A successful season for the Richmond Hill Golf Club is recorded in the twenty-fourth annual report which will be presented to members at the annual meeting of the club on February 27. The scheme for providing water for the greens, authorised by a special general meeting in September of last year, has been effected and has proved extremely beneficial. Among the many other improvements carried out during the year was the enlarging of most of the greens. Though there was a fall in membership at the beginning of the season, and a consequent fall in revenue, all outstanding accounts carried over from the previous season were paid off by the committee. In addition all expenditure for the season, with the exception of the water supply account, had been met. Four years remained m which to pay off this account. The membership roll showed that the men had 56 on the active list, with seven life members and five absentee members. The ladies had an active list of 68, an absentee list of two, one life member, and five junior members. The prize-list showed that the men's championship had been won by J. D. Lawrence, jun., with R. H. T. Hamilton runner-up, while similar places on the ladies' list were occupied by Miss Z. Hudson and' Miss M. McCallum respectively. HAXMER SPRINGS CLUB The Hanmer Springs Golf Club played the final round of the Rutherford Cleek match during the week-end, in conjunction with the medal match.
