While engaged in mining at Maori Point, near Kumara. yesterday, a [youth named Hollinsliaw received a [gash tliat necessitated his removal to j the Grey River Hospital. Hollinsliaw and some companions were jacking up a Irce from the workings when the j handle of the jack slipped, and Hying 'back, struck him on the arm. Croquet In spite of wet weather a number of Rccflon croquet players visited Greymouth, where they played a match with members of the Makura Club. Results were (members of the Makura Club being mentioned first:— Singles: Mrs Whibley beat Mrs H. Wicken, 26-7: Mrs Mercer beat Mrs Osborne, 2G-R1: Mrs McKay beat Mrs Prentice, 26-19: Mrs Warnes beat Mrs Corescto. 26-23: Mrs Robertson beat Miss Arnott, 26-13. Doubles: Mesdames Whibley and Thomas beat Mesdames Wicken and Prentice. 26-8; Mesdames Coburn .and Hambleton beat Tvlcsdamcs Ccreseto and Osborne. 26-22. Personal Mr B. Hughes, who has been visiting the West Coast in connexion with the timber industry, left yesterday on return to Sydney. The Rev. Father McMahon. inspector of Catholic schools for the diocese of Dunedin, left, yesterday on return to Duncdin. after a holiday visit to Greymouth. Dr. P. Clcnucll Fcnwiek arrived at Gicymouth yesterday afternoon from Christehurch. Miss A. O'Brien, who has been visiting Mr and Mrs M. Bradshaw, left yesterday on return to Auckland. Dr. Basil Page left Kumara yesterday for Waikari, where he will in future reside.
