FOUR MAU CHIEFS SENTENCED
* VERDICT AT SAMOAN TRIAL (By Kadio—Special to Press Association.) (Received December 8, 9.50 p.m.) APIA, December 7. Of the six chiefs arrested at Savaii on December 1, two were sentenced to six months' imprisonment for participating in Mau activities. Two were fined £l, in default 21 days' imprisonment, for attending Mau taulolos held at Vaimoso village. They are serving the prison sentence. The other two were released, the charges against them not having been proved. , BEAUTIFUL PROPERTIES FOR THE NATION MAGNIFICENT ENGLISH GIFT (BIUIISU OFFICIAL WIRCLISS.) (Received December 8, 7.5 p.m.) RUGBY, December 7. Two beautiful properties at Dovedale, Derbyshire, known as Hurtswood and Hall Dale, have been presented to the National Trust by Mr Robert McDougall, a manufacturer. The gift is one of the most outstanding received by the National Trust for the Preservation of Beauty Spots in recent years.
