FRENCH BUDGET CRISIS
ECONOMIES LIKELY TO BE OPPOSED LATEST GOVERNMENT'S PLAN (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BT ELECTRIC TELEGKAPU —COPYRIGHT.) (Received December 8, 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, December 7. France's third Government in six weeks will attempt to pass its budget through the Chamber of Deputies to-day. The main battle will rage round two articles. The first, on which two governments have already fallen, provides for a modest levy on civil servants' salaries. The second is a new proposal seeking to abolish a number of allowances granted income tax payers. It is probable that the Government will accept considerable modification without putting a question of confidence. MORE CONFIDENCE IN FRANC DECREASE IN GOLD WITHDRAWALS (Received December 8, 11.55 p.m.) ; PARIS, December 8. The fear of a general flight from the franc is over. The Bank of France return for the week ended December 12 shows that less than £5,500,000 in gold was lost.
