PAPAL DELEGATE TO AUSTRALIA
ARRIVAL IN FREMANTLE (Received October 17, 9.2 p.m.) .FREMANTLE, October 17. Among the passengers by the Orontes from London was the new Papal delegate, Archbishop Bernardine, who brought a special message of greeting from the Pope to the Catholics of Australia. A large gathering of school children carrying appropriate banners gathered at the ship's side to welcome him. Archbishop Bernardine, in an interview, said he expected to be very happy in Australia, where there was full religious freedom, wlv: .i seemed to be a privilege of the ordinances of the British Empire. The relations among the various creeds in Australia were more cordial than elsewhere.
