CENTRAL RESERVE BANK
A WANGANUI PROTEST IFItrSS ASSOCIATION- IKLECBAM.) WELLINGTON, October 16. A large audience in Wanganui tonight, following a forceful address by Mr H. Atmore, M.P., carried a resolution unanimously asking the Prime Minister to delay passing legislation setting up a Central Reserve Bank until a referendum of the electors is obtained. The meeting also passed a resolution that it believed the Government had no mandate to inflict this legislation on the people of the Dominion, and if the Government persisted in setting up the bank the members of the audience would pledge themselves individually and collectively to link with other electorates to vote the Government out of office. A further motion was carried asking Mr W. A. Veitch, M.P. for Wanganui, to oppose the bill in the House, and do all in his power to prevent its passage.
