OPAWA-HILLSBOROUGH BURGESSES
The monthly meeting of the OpawaHillsborough Burgesses' Association was held recently. Mr F. H. Dephofi (president) was in the chair. Four new members were elected. Cycle registration and control were discussed at some length, but it was decided to defer until next meeting further consideration. It was decided to write to the City Council asking for the removal of the macadam dump by the railway station, and to protest against the non-inclusion of some of the Opawa streets in the council s tar-sealing programme. A sub-committee was set up to inspect the drain and reserve belonging to the Railway Department in Vincent place, and to report to next meeting. „ .; It was decided to draw the Railway Department's attention to the danger at the approach from the railway bridge on Richardson terrace, and to ask for a larger and more conspicuous sign indicating the danger to motorists approaching the bridge, owing to the possibility of coveredin vans striking the understructure. Several accidents were reported to have occurred owing to the lowness of the bridge. Satisfaction was expressed at the widening of juocarno street. The planting of unsuitable trees on the river banks was mentioned, and it was decided to watch the position closely.-
