"THE MESSENGER BOY"

OPERATIC SOCIETY'S SEASON The box plans for the Christchurch Operatic Society's season of the musical comedy "The Messenger Boy," which commences with a matinee at St. James's Theatre on Saturday afternoon, will open at The Bristol to-day. In the past many intending patrons have delayed until late in the season, and have been unable to secure seats. The tendency to wait till the last nights of a local production is no doubt due to the impression that the company is then at its best, and this is probably justified where the players are inexperienced; but the cast of "The Messenger Boy," which has Mr Dan McKivett in the name part, has had such an intensive course of preparation—and many have appeared in the society's previous successes —that patrons need have no hesitation, for nothing is to be gained by delay. The comedy will be played for seven nights and two matinees, and it promises to be even more successful and popular than any the society has yet produced. Mr Alfred Bunz is the musical director, and Miss Bessie Macdonald is the ballet mistress. Major F. H. Lampen is in charge once again of the whole production.
