CONCERT AT SUMNER
The concert given by the pupils of the Sumner District High School in the Sumner Town Hall was largely attended. The programme included some excellent part singing by Forms 1 and 2, and a very popular dance item by Forms 4 and 5. Marion Duff contributed a vocal solo, and Douglas Hall a recitation. Two one-act plays were warmly applauded. The characters in "The Patchwork Quilt" were: Grandmother Willis. Joan Edgar; Ailn Willis, Margaret Crawshaw; granddaughter, Phoebe Baxter; William, Margaret Malley; Molly, Vivian Comerford; Emily, Molly Bassett; Joe Willis, Rex Allen. The following was the cast for "Five Birds in a Cage": Duchess of Wiltshire, Janet Turnbull; Lord Porth, Neil Duff; Bert Wilson, Gordon Dalziel; the dressmaker's assistant, Nira Glackin; 'Orace 'Erbert, Louis Longuet.
