ANNUAL DINNER.

Members of the old girls' association of the West Christchurch High School held their first annual dinner at Dixieland, when Miss Ethel M. Brydon presided over a good attendance of old girls.

The tables were decorated in the school colours, and spring flowers added to the pleasing appearance of the room.

Miss Muriel Hudson proposed the toast of "The School," and Miss A. C. Finlayson, in replying, said that the school owed a great debt to the old pupils, who were always willing to assist. It was difficult to remember all the girls who came to and went from the school, but the association was a means of keeping in touch with many old pupils.

Miss H. M. Mayne, in proposing the toast of "The Association," referred to the work of the former association established in 1912. She said that it was owing to a few enthusiastic old girls that the new association had been formed four years ago. Miss Mayne paid a tribute to the officers and committees of the association, whose untiring efforts had helped the association to attain its present high standard Miss Nancy Ruston (secretary) said that the association was steadily growing, and she hoped in years to come it would be a big factor in the life of every old girl of the school. Other toasts included: "The Old Association," proposed by Miss R. McCammon, and responded to by Miss P Black; "Hockey and Basketball Clubs, proposed by Miss I. W Best and responded to by Miss E. Robertson; "Absent Old Girls," proposed by Miss E. Hun-ell; "The Patron," proposed by Miss K. Lee, and responded to by Mrs de Berry; '(The President" proposed by Miss M. A. Hooper, and responded to by Miss E. M. Brydon Musical items were given by Misses Freda Judkins, Sybil Hull. Lily Kinsella, Holly East, and Rae McCammon
