NURSES' DANCE.

Nurses of the Christchurch Hospital, former nurses, and their friends spent a very enjoyable time at the nurses' annual dar.ee, held at the Winter Garocn last night. In the absence of Miss Rose Muir, lady superintendent of the Christchurch Hospital, Mrs Walter Fox was assisted by Mrs Guy Pascoc and Mrs John Guthrie in her duties as hostess. Mrs Fox wore a black georgette frock and a cape of black velvet; Mrs Pascoc's frock war, of black souple satin, and she wore a short coat of grey fur; Mrs Guthrie wore a coatee of floral tissue over her black satin frock. Sir Hugh and Lady Acland were the guests of honour. Lady Acland wore a frock of black lace, made with long-fitting sleeves, and a shoulder cape to match. On her arrival, she was presented with a bouquet of pink camellias and sweet peas by Miss Sutherland. Bouquets of spring (lowers were also presented to Mesdames Fox and Guthrie, and Mrs Pascoe received a shoulder spray of vivid tints. The Bailey-Marston orchestra supplied dance music. Members of the organising committee were Misses Anne Sutherland 'treasurer), Gwen Dale (secretary), Edith Parkerson, Jean Menzies, and Ola Hawkins. Miss Sutherland wore a frock of flame georgette inset with satin and a black velvet coatee (rimmed with white fur; Miss Dale's frock of gold satin had small cape sleeves relieved with black velvet, and her grey coatee was trimmed with matching fur; Miss Parkerson wore a frock of green satin beaute, and coatee of flame net made with elbow length cape sleeves; Miss Menzies wore a capelct of white fur over her frock of red and grey floral georgette; Miss Hawkins' frock of black velvet was inset with white ripple crepe below the wide shoulder sleeves, edged with black fur, and her coatee was of ivory chiffon velvet.
