BOXING.
CHRISTCHURCH SPORTS CLUB. At a meeting of the executive committee of the Christchurch Sports Club there were present Messrs C. H. Taylor, jun. (chairman), J. D. Hutchison, R. H. Livingstone, It, L. Kennctt, and A. McDonald-Smith. The New Zealand Boxing Association wrote inviting nominations of referees and judges for the New Zealand amateur boxing championships to be held at Blenheim on September 7, 8, and fl. It was decided to nominate Mr J. D. Hutchison u.s one of the referees, and Mr W. E. Moulciey as a judge, subject to their consent.
The Marlborough Boxing Association wrote expressing its appreciation of the splendid team of boxers that the Christchurch Sports Club had sent to Blenheim for the inter-provinciul contests, and adding that the tournament was one of the very best that had been staged there for many years. The class of boxing had been exceptionally good, and the sport had received quite an impetus. The secretary was directed to book accommodation for a team of eight, and for 10 members at the championship meeting. The chairman reported that George Wright had accepted the challenge of Len Knuckey, of Hastings, for the professional and New Zealand bantamweight title, and that the bout would be of 15 rounds, in accordance with the rules governing the title. This would be held at the Caledonian Hall, and would be supported by the inter-pro-vincial contests, South Canterbury v. Canterbury, on Tuesday, August 8. Mr J. D. Hutchison was appointed referee for the professional title bout, with Messrs W. E. Mouldey and R. H. Livingstone as judges, and Dr. Hartnel! referee for the inter-provincial contests, with Messrs C. 5. Thomas and H. O. Jefcoate as judges. Other appointments made were:—Time-keepers, Messrs R. L. Kennett and P. C. Crooke; glove and scales steward, Mr N. McGillivray; competitors' steward, Mr G. Cox: announcer, Mr A. McDonaldSmith; house manager, Mr C. H. Tay-, lor, jun. „ . . . ..
