HOCKEY.
CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. .MAN A GEM ENT COMMITTEE. The management committee of ihe Canterbury Hockey Association met last evening. Mr W. K. Down, deputychairman, was in the chair. The Nelson Association wrote stating that arrangements were well in hand for its tour of the West Coast and Canterbury. The team would be: K. Holland (goal), T. O'Callaghan, L. Hunter. N. Hunter (backs), T. Kenning, R. Coker, R. Best, T. Gibbons (halves), P. Amos. A. Nightingale, G. Frost, P. McEride, and C. Sanders (iorwards).
A letter was receis'ed from the Wellington Association stating that it could not get a schoolboys' team to play Canterbury, but could get a secondary schools' team. It was decided to ask the selector to select a team if possible. It was agreed to write to Wellington asking it if it could arrange a schoolboys' match between Auckland and Canterbury. A letter was received from the Canterbury Rugby Union statin? that it had agreed to the Canterbury \. Southland hockey match being played at Lancaster Park on August 19, at 1.15 p.m. The Southland Association wrote protesting agairtsfc the decision to play the match on the west ground instead of the oval. It was decided to reply stating that it was impossible to play on tne oval on account of the marking. The senior selector wrote stating that he had decided to select 22 players to play a possibles v. probables match. The arrangements were left to the emergency committee to complete after the round of matches next Saturday. Mr Lav/ was appointed manager of the teams to go to Darfield next Saturday. It was decided to call for entries for the primary school iive-a-side tournament, to be held on Friday, August 4. It was agreed to write to the Sydenham, University, Redclifi's, and Kaiapoi Clubs regarding missing teams' formr, and also to the Wesley Club regarding its dues to the association.
